Hopefully you’ve seen my 2008 Toy Fair video. That was produced specifically for parents of young children and focused on appropriate toys. I also covered Toy Fair for my toys and collectibles site MillionairePlayboy.com (think Bruce Wayne). We had 3 video podcasts, including one just about action figures coming out this year. Well this video, finally produced yesterday, covers other toys (non action figures) that one can find at Toy Fair. So here it is.
Includes Iron Man, squishy stuff, Star Trek, Muppets and more
This morning on Magic 106.5 we opened the line to callers who could offer me advice on their surefire ways to soothe a crying baby. Everyone has a remedy that they swear by. Listen to the recorded bit, and then leave a comment offering your own advice Read the rest of this entry »

I just did a review on MillionairePlayboy.com for this 1:18 scale (12 inch long) remote control General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard. I found it for $11 at Wal*Mart. It’s really not a bad display piece of the General, that happens to provide some additional fun with the RC capability. (There’s even a Dixie horn) Check out the link for lots of pictures and a video demo (that includes footage I shot of the stuntmen rolling a police car at the Dukesfest a few years back. Sweet!
Here is my review of the Remote Control General Lee
Our fellow MPb writer Jager has a son in preschool who loves the new Easy Dunk Basketball hoop from Playskool, so here’s his test drive.
One of the instant benefits of this set is that it hangs securely right onto a doorknob, so there’s nothing to install, nothing to screw or glue to your walls. Infact it is so easy to put into place, his 2 and a half year old can hang it up and take it down all by himself. There’s an added dose of “kid power” in their role of setting it up and putting it away.
It’s easy “installation” and size also make it very portable, so it can tag along to Grandma’s house, or the office.
Placing it at doorknob height is perfect for the 4 years old and under set, and it will latch on to several types of doorknobs. The height lends itself to many slam dunks, so the hoop is hinged as not to snap off and break.
The backboard, hoop, and Nerf-ish foam ball are all sturdy and wellmade, and the short net keeps it pretty safe for little fingers. Which is more than can be said for the upcoming Playskool Slam Dunk Paper Shredder coming out in 09.
The Easy Dunk Basketball hoop is available on Amazon.com
I’m starting a new feature, look to the right and you’ll see a button that says “I need advice” If you click on that button, it will load up the posts that ask the readers for advice. Please pick and add a comment!
Right now I’m looking for advice regarding baby music that won’t drive me nuts. I have several albums that help put him to sleep, that I don’t mind listening to over the monitor, but are there playful, awake-time albums that are good for stimulating baby that won’t make me want to jam beef jerky into my ears?
Here’s the number one thing I can’t stand –I don’t like little kids singing. I need to listen to adults singing kids songs… I can’t take any more kids singing kids’ songs.
And feel free to check out the other subjects that need advice (this is the first one, so be patient). All are welcome. Great Albums for Sleepy time (that I recommend)
To summarize, in 2000, playmobil released a line of toys, playmobil First Smile specifically for infants, but were discontinued shortly there after. Since learning of my child’s upcoming birth, I have spent months tracking down sets on eBay, and since it’s my first child, I only consider mint-in-box and not ever having been in another baby’s mouth. Fast forward 7 months, and my son is actually playing with them… nay enjoying them. He’s got lots of toys that move and make noise and have all kinds of whistles and bells. These two playmobil toys are at the lower end, technologically speaking, but he’ll drop what he’s playing with to grab ahold of that wonderful plastic smile. You can’t imagine the pride welling up inside. Check out the gallery for more pictures of Playmobil First smile toys, and my son playing with them.
It was a good weekend indeed.

I was just thinking, you don’t need to listen to all of these in order to enjoy them, they’re just brief discussions about toys I have recently reviewed…. this week I talk about my favorite new toy, the Yada Yada Yada and the Halo Laser Tag guns. Click below to listen
A friend passed a long this art show where prominant artists in the art community turned their eyes to toys of yesteryear for this specific show. Lots of crazy inspiration going on here. Plus 3 playmobil inspired paintings! Most of the toys referenced are toys from OUR childhood, not our kids’ Check it out. http://www.toys1988.blogspot.com

I wanted to point you towards the playmobil DHL truck that I customized into an ice cream truck. Check out the original article with lots of pictures, some tips, and a PDF of decals you can print out to customize your own truck. But I’m pointing out this article now because I’m working on another DIY project that uses Krylon Fusion, the spray paint for plastics, and will be referencing this soon.
Anyway, for now, here is my Playmobil Ice Cream Truck
