(You’ll need sound)
Let me break down how you can make this video

This one is really easy. I used Adobe Premiere, but you should be able to do this with any video editing product that allows you to add multiple sound tracks.

The hardest part was getting video of the baby screaming… and then not doing anything about it. For the record, his bottle was heating up, which takes around 6-8 minutes, so he usually gets mad during that time anyway.

Start with your main video of the baby crying. Have complete silence in the background when filming. (You will want to do this in the privacy of your own home because people will look at you like a cruel parent for not responding to the baby right away)

When I press the remote button aimed at the baby, I silence that movie’s sound track, I then recorded my dialogue on the phone separately, and lined it up to when I resume talking.
The Main Trick
So the brain will process that there are two sources of sound (baby and conversation)
To create the illusion of muting the baby, you have other sounds keep going.

A phone conversation was easy to re-record and then line up. You could make this more complicated by having two people talking, but you’ll have to be very careful lining up their re-recorded dialogue later. I kept it easy with my first go.

I can’t hear it as clearly on YouTube, but in the original movie, I added another layer of sound, TV noise in the background, so there are 3 sounds (baby, TV, me) and only one gets muted. That helps a bit, but it was pretty soft (so you could hear my awesome Shakira ring tone).

Good luck.
Please let me know if you try this and upload it to YouTube. I’d love to see it Go ahead and comment here (with a link) for this post.
