click hereYou saw the playmobil booth we visited at Toy Fair this year. For those of you parents that can’t wait until your kid hits age 4 (the age recommended to start on their playmo addiction) there is Playmobil 1-2-3 recommended for children ages 1 1/2 and up. The people are chunkier with less moving parts (sounds like they need to go on NBC’s Biggest Loser), they’re intended for smaller fingers, but the people are still choking hazards, so these are not for kids under 18 months. They’re made in Germany, so you can trust that they are lead free. Check out all the playmobil 1-2-3 sets that are new this year, including our large I have over 40 pics of these sets in our gallery.

This set comes in a durable cardboard box that has a handle on top. I like that this set can be packed away and taken along to a Grandma’s house, or at least keep the pieces from getting lost. You get 8 pieces of rounded track that can be put together in a nice wide loop. I love that the wheels on the engine move the bracket back and forth. The conductor plugs in to the engine car, and the included passenger sits in the passenger car. There is room for one additional passenger (not included) and additional cars can be added. I am glad that my son will have a train to play with, as I ride one to work every day. (As seen in my Where Does Daddy Go children’s book) You can find this set at your local toy shop or Playmobil.com $22

This one is my favorite that I remember from Toy Fair. She reminds me of the Blind Melon video. The girl clips onto the flower nicely, and the rounded bottom (on the flower) lets her rock around. There is a rattle in the flower, and it also floats in water. I love the look and feel of this one, with a dash of whimsey. The little girl also has antennae and “wings” painted on her. You can find it at your local toy shop or Playmobil.comfor $7

I love this toy, it reminds me of Neverending Story. The snail simply rocks back and forth, but I like its design and smile-invoking look. In case you’re not familiar, 1-2-3 playmobilians have a rotating head and they can fold into the sitting position. You can find it at your local toy shop or Playmobil.com for $7

I’ll point out my only criticism with the 1-2-3 line in general, the playmo-people have solid-dot eyes, but the vehicles have eyes with whites and pupils. I’m guessing that solid color eyes on an inanimate object wouldn’t stand out at all. Ok, that’s fine, but it doesn’t seem like it fits with the line 100%. I like this set, the wheels roll nicely, and any of the 1-2-3 people could sit behind the “wheel.” It’s good and durable, and it does look nice (despite not looking totally playmo). You can find it at your local toy shop or Playmobil.com for $8

click here6757 Park Bench in Meadow
I like this set’s modular base. The squigly piece of green “grass” has raised square tablets placed about, that the bench and two included flowers can clip on to. It’s very easy for small hands to pop them on and off, but they hold on pretty securely. This is a great introduction to other modular building sets. You also get a cherry tree, a mom and daughter, horse, rabbit, bird, and lamb. This set is really that utopian Playmobil la-la land we wish we could retire to. (ED note: suit yourself, I want to retire to playmobil set 3787 Old West Saloon) You can get the meadow from your local toy shop, or online at Playmobil.comfor $14

click here6759 Dump Truck and Shed
I like how this set combines a fun dump truck (the back dumps its load, huh-huh) and a sorter in the shed (there are holes in the roof, shaped for the barrel, box, and sack of potatoes to fit through) You can place the items through the holes, and they’ll land in the back of the dump truck. Small fingers can easily open the doors, and pull the truck out. I found that I could also easily clip the train tracks to the front of the shed, incase you’d like to back your train into there. I like the two-in-one functionality of this set, and for $20, you can’t go wrong. You can pick this up at your local toy shop or online at Playmobil.com
I’ll be putting together a short video review of this set coming soon, so look forward to that. Also watch out for my massive Playmobil Dinosaurs review also coming this week. I have over 40 pics of these sets in our gallery. We have tons more playmobil reviews here and on MillionairePlayboy.com. Please check out Playmobil.com for additional sets and activities.
