I can’t believe this will be my ninth Toy Fair. I have been covering toy fair for my toys and collectibles web site MillionairePlayboy.com for years. Now I will be splitting my duties and covering what’s the latest in baby toys and books.
In case you’re unaware, here is a video recap of Toy Fair from last year. Basically all of the manufacturers put out prototypes of the upcoming toys, and big buyers like Target and Toys R Us, walk around with independant toy shop buyers, and pick out what they want to carry for the upcoming year. We get invited as press.
Starting February 17th, I will be updating a gallery with all kinds of cool stuff to check out. More coming soon.
Wow! I couldn’t believe the rumors a few weeks ago that popped up on the net about the follow up to the Playmobil Romans line being the Egyptians… complete with a pyramid. So here are some pictures that recently surfaced on a German web site.
Now, here’s the rub. These are coming out in 2008 in Germany… that means 2009 in the United States. So even though I’m going to Toy Fair in NYC in a few weeks, these puppies won’t be there. We do have some exciting news coming out of that visit, but we’ll have to wait to see these egyptians in person.
Check out our gallery to see more of these Egyptian, close up.
And don’t forget to check out the rest of our playmobil coverage (on MPb)

Have you lost the directions to your kid’s Pack n Play and need to figure out how to close it up again? Did you buy an exersaucer off of Craigslist and have no idea if all the pieces are there?I have been gathering the places on manufacturers’ web sites that store all of the instuction manuals in PDF form and listing them on our Del.icio.us page. You can check out the printable instructions page to see if the company you need is listed. And from now on, you can click on the tool box icon to my left that says Helpful Links and click on the “Directions” tag on the right side of that resulting screen to see all of these specific links. (And I try to be a writer)
If you know any companies whom I should list, let me know in the comments below… I’m aware this is just the beginning, fo’ sho. (Now I’m trying to be lame)
Thanks!

I picked up this little toy for $4 at Target. It’s made by Baby Einstein. It’s their dragon, but I love how it could pass for a dinosaur (or Godzilla type monster?) And when you squeeze him, he goes “BLEH!”
A friend of mine has the Fisher Price Polar Bear that says “Rowr!!” (it’s not a real roar, it’s a guy saying Roar… very funny) It cleanly makes it funny, and not at all scary.
My 5 month old loves it. I used some color plastic chain to attach it to his car seat, and he likes grabbing for it. It takes a little bit more dexterity than he possesses to squeeze the sound chip, but he likes grabbing for it.
I’m working on a whole bunch of new DIY articles coming soon. So here’s this quicky review to pass the time. I’m also planning our first live event. If you’re in the Montgomery County Maryland area, drop me a line. Editor AT nontoxicreviews DOT com

Here is an infant toy I’ve really come to love. The Chime Garden plays soothing tones when the heads of these playful flowers are pressed. The petals are all different textures that are fun for the baby to grab. Here is one toy that the kid will enjoy, that won’t drive you up the wall after repetitive play. Check out why this is one of my favorite toys… Read the rest of this entry »
I forgot to mention that before I jumped in to Ramsay’s book, that I actually started dabbling with online recipes. My favorite web site for recipes is AllRecipes.com. Check out why this is the best free place to get started… Read the rest of this entry »
Now that we have a baby, I’m feeling the “nesting” genes kick in and I’m trying to domesticate myself a little bit. Now I’m starting to cook. I am a cheeseburger and pizza and cheeseburger type of guy. But now I need to get “healthy” and try cooking a bit. I love watching Gordon Ramsay (from TV’s Hells Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares), so I started there and picked up his book Gordon Ramsay Makes it Easy, his cook book featuring deceptively simple recipes. I found it to be dead on in regards to why we, as society, feel we don’t ever have “enough” and it really boils down the culture of consumerism and traces it back to our primitive wiring. It touches on celebrity culture, and the obesity epidemic… and it all made sense.
Anyway, I know I am a shopper, and I want to raise an informed consumer, I hope I can teach my little guy the difference between “want” and “need” and what is truly “enough”
In other news, I’m shutting down public access to the message board. It’s only spam and it’s getting frustrating cleaning it out each day. Feel free to comment on individual articles, (it’s easy to do) but for now, drop me an e-mail and ask to be a part of the message board, and I’ll keep it private. Keeping out spammers.
