My two and a half year old son has taken it upon himself to demonstrate how to change a diaper. We filmed this, with absolutely no coaching on our part. Enjoy!

I was interviewed by Michael Finney with ABC7 out of San Francisco. You may have heard my earlier radio interview, well now here I am on the glorious tube.

I ordered this POD (bean bag tripod) from ThePod.ca and it arrived today. I couldn’t wait to give it a whirl. Basically its a hockey puck shaped bean bag with a universal tripod screw mount on top. It slides right into your pocket. You can put this just about anywhere, (top of a mailbox, fence post) to position your camera.
They make different sizes for different cameras. The yellow one is for small pocket sized cameras, but they have bigger ones (black) for even the paparazzi sized behemoths, and a bunch of sizes in between. The base is water resistant, and there is a velcro pouch so you can take out some of the beads to get a better “floppy grip” on whatever perch you found.
I have just started shooting some video (and now I can get into the act), and will have a demo collection soon, but I wanted to share some pics with you now. Check out ThePod.ca to see some more examples. All of the pods are on sale as of writing this. This is an awesome dad tool because now I can get back into the videos.

On Saturday September 19th, I was on Micheal Finney’s Consumer Talk on KGO 810 AM. We discussed my free downloadable Wallet Cards that contain the actual text from Visa and Mastercard’s Purchase Agreements stating that it is against their rules to require a minimum purchase. You can either listen to the 5:00 hour of his show in its entirety here. (The first part contains Andrew Martin, a writer for the New York Times discussing overdraft fees on debit cards. I am at 31:00 mark.) or click below to listen to just my bit. Read the rest of this entry »

I work in Washington DC and many of the merchants I come across post their Minimum Credit Card Purchase policy. I’ve tried to buy a $2 chocolate milk with my debit card and been told that I have to spend at least [$10] to use my credit card. Thanks to reading the The Consumerist I know that it is against the store’s Merchant Agreement to demand a minimum purchase.

A new article from The Times details a study where they left 240 wallets out, each with different pictures, (a baby, a family, a dog, or a nice elderly couple), and the ones with a baby were most likely to be returned to their owners… someting about the sympathetic nature of society towards infants.

When faced with the photograph of the baby people were far more likely to send the wallet back, the study found. In fact, only one in ten were hearthearted enough not to do so. With no picture to tug at the emotions, just one in seven were sent back.

According to Dr Wiseman the result reflects a compassionate instinct towards vulnerable infants that people have evolved to ensure the survival of future generations. “The baby kicked off a caring feeling in people, which is not surprising from an evolutionary perspective,” he said.

Thanks to the Consumerist.
