My son and I were excited to hear about the new NASA Orion capsule. This is the vehicle our astronauts will be using in a few years to return safely from trips to Mars and the Moon! I recently picked up the Playmobil Rescue Raft (5545) from Toys R Us. I decided to mod it to look like the new capsule. Check out my pics below, including a link to download a set of decals to make your own Orion capsule!
Want something fun and easy to make for your kids’ lunch for Halloween? How about something that only needs ingredients you already have in your house. My son loves eating gross stuff, so here’s a Peanut Booger Sandwich. You can make in just a few minutes. Read the rest of this entry »
My six year old son has been talking about secret labs and mad scientists for almost a year. I caught an epiphany looking at used play kitchens at a consignment sale. I could spray that one black and make it a mad scientist lab…. I was really surprised that I could pull the whole thing off for less than $50, but make a pretty memorable toy. My son is turning six and Star Wars is one of the biggest things in the universe for him, so we decided to go all out with a themed birthday party. Click below for cheap and easy things you can do to spice up a Star Wars party.
Just a few weekends ago, my wife went out of town, leaving me and my five year old son to our own devices. Though it lasted more than a day, we dubbed this Ewwwsday. Click below for a lot of pics, and what you can do with your kids for some safe, gross fun. Read the rest of this entry »

This is my favorite time of year for shooting outdoor photos… it’s nice and cool so your subjects won’t be hot and sweaty, and the fall colors add so much warmth and atmosphere to your pics. Also, with the earlier sunset times, we found that the golden hour, the hour before sunset, is a little easier to manage with younger subjects. Click below to see my recommendations for getting awesome pumpkin patch or otherwise fall photos.
My son and I love our Hot Wheels Monster Jam Monster trucks… we have a couple of the playsets, and lots and lots of trucks. We race them down the Showdown ramp, we spin donuts in the Crash Arena, and much to my wife’s chagrin, we leave them all over the house.
Anyway, I decided to thin my son’s stable a little and take one or two to work. Yes, I look silly with Monster Trucks on my desk. So I decided to change the scenario and make a handsome backdrop display to improve their appearance in my workplace. And now you can too! Click below to get the PDF and see more pics. My two and a half year old son has taken it upon himself to demonstrate how to change a diaper. We filmed this, with absolutely no coaching on our part. Enjoy!
