We have been having a blast playing with the Nanos by Hexbugs. You can play with the Nanos by themselves, or go nuts building elaborate environments with the modular habitat system. The bugs are perfect for kids ages 3 & up, but I’m pretty close to bringing in this habitat to the office.

You can check out more about the Nanos from Hexbugs.com. And if you’re a collector, you can register your Nano’s unique online code at HandandStars.com

Bonus: Listen to me chat about the Nano’s on Magic 106.5 FM with Jack Logar a few weeks back!

In the interest of full disclosure, I have purchased several of the Nanos and habitat pieces shown. Hexbugs sent me additional building pieces and some extra Nanos for the purpose of review.

My son is about two and three quarters (ah those were the days) and he just got into Play-Doh. He set his eye on the Coco-Nutty Monkey one visit to Toys R Us. We were having serious discussions about potty training so we picked up the mnkey, and told him he could play with it as soon as he gave up diapers. Three weeks later, we haven’t had an “accident” in days and someone is looooving their Coco-nutty monkey. Check out my pics and review below.

Sorry I’ve been out of it… the holidays and a two year old got the best of me. I’m getting back in gear to get ready for Toy Fair next month! Stay tuned

I spoke with Jack Logar from Magic 106.5 a few days before Christmas about the My Little Pony Gumball house, the MegaBloks Streetz set, and the Battle Strikers. Click below to listen, and get links to those videos I mentioned.

I ordered this POD (bean bag tripod) from ThePod.ca and it arrived today. I couldn’t wait to give it a whirl. Basically its a hockey puck shaped bean bag with a universal tripod screw mount on top. It slides right into your pocket. You can put this just about anywhere, (top of a mailbox, fence post) to position your camera.
They make different sizes for different cameras. The yellow one is for small pocket sized cameras, but they have bigger ones (black) for even the paparazzi sized behemoths, and a bunch of sizes in between. The base is water resistant, and there is a velcro pouch so you can take out some of the beads to get a better “floppy grip” on whatever perch you found.
I have just started shooting some video (and now I can get into the act), and will have a demo collection soon, but I wanted to share some pics with you now. Check out ThePod.ca to see some more examples. All of the pods are on sale as of writing this. This is an awesome dad tool because now I can get back into the videos.
