My son and I love our Hot Wheels Monster Jam Monster trucks… we have a couple of the playsets, and lots and lots of trucks. We race them down the Showdown ramp, we spin donuts in the Crash Arena, and much to my wife’s chagrin, we leave them all over the house.
Anyway, I decided to thin my son’s stable a little and take one or two to work. Yes, I look silly with Monster Trucks on my desk. Today I got to chat with Bethesda based monster truck driver Jay Snyder. My son and I first got to witness his truck Illuminator at the Montgomery County Fair three years ago (see video below), and have been trying to keep up ever since. Next weekend at Monster Jam in DC, Illuminator will be competing against Crushstation, Man of Steel, Iron Outlaw, Bounty Hunter, and of course, Grave Digger. I wanted to ask Jay a few questions about driving a monster truck, and he delivered. Check it out.
Disney on Ice: Treasure Trove made a stop in Baltimore at the 1st Mariner Bank Arena this past weekend and we were there to marvel in the excitement. This time we brought our own princess too. Click below for more pics and my write-up.
Last Friday the 13th and trucked up to Baltimore to check out the Nuclear Cowboyz. This spectacle pits the competing Soldiers of Havoc (blue uniforms) and the Metal Mulisha (black and gold) vs the invading Cyborg Army led by the evil Tempest. The Disney on Ice show Dare to Dream (the Princess centric show) came to town and I took the family. Now before you start with the cracks… my four year old son and I decided to take Mommy as her birthday present. She really wanted to see the show, and my son is a little too young to feel emasculated by a show of dancing princesses. If anything, I should be applauded for my open minded attitudes towards gender appropriate activities. And we’re totally hitting the Monster Trucks again in January. My son (and I, I have to admit) have been fans of Yo Gabba Gabba for more than a year now. We don’t watch a lot of television, but when we do, it’s usually Yo Gabba Gabba. We love the music, the characters and of course the special guests. When we heard they were going on tour, and would be performing at a town near us, I knew we had to go. We had since indoctrinated Mommy, and after a few big events such as a They Might Be Giants kids concert and a major league baseball game, we knew our three year old was ready for the show. I got online to buy tickets as soon as they went on sale, and nabbed seats in the center of the fourth row.
